First Day of School in Kiev

I wanted to put up some pictures of the first day of school here in Kiev. Mary and Abigail are going to Ukrainian school this year, which traditionally begins on September the first. There is a big ceremony out in front of the school where a child ceremonially rings a bell to start the school year.

Above are Donna, Mary and Abigail leaving our apartment and walking to the school which is at the foot of our building. Below is a picture of the bell-ringing ceremony and then a picture of Abby in her class.

Please pray for Donna and the kids. We are in a steep learning curve in terms of language and culture. But we are thankful for the opportunities this opens up to talk about our faith. We were blessed in that the director of the school remembered us from when Anna went to the school. He had very good memories and we are looking forward to a good experience. But it is very difficult right now while the girls are getting up to speed in Ukrainian. Mary is also required for the school to take German. Below is a picture of Abby with her teacher and a few classmates.
